1st MUSHROOM FESTIVAL IN VARVITSA
Spread the word
The mountain village of Varvitsa (or Barbitsa) is built amphitheatrically at an altitude of 1060 metres at the foothills of Mount Parnon. It is the highest village in Laconia. Villages such as Karyes, Kastri, Ano Doliana, etc. are nearby. Specifically, it is 42 kilometres northeast of Sparta, and its name is Slavic.
OUR 1st MUSHROOM FESTIVAL will take place in this unique and welcoming destination. After the Mushroom Festival, lunch will follow the lighting of the village Christmas tree at 18:30, a bazaar with traditional local products, and a hot Trachana soup treat to the sounds of music!
We are waiting for you all! The mushroom excursion will include a picnic with mushroom-flavoured dishes full of wild mushrooms and fresh truffles from our chefs.

Bring your cutlery from home! Plate and cutlery set, and glass if you want! The group is asking for everyone's support in its effort to reduce the use of plastic that results in its needs. With the guidance and knowledge offered by the instructors of the Panhellenic Mushroom Excursion Association, they create a healthy and safe environment for the knowledge and dissemination of mushrooming, in which we learn to secure the precious wild mushrooms of the Greek countryside, always with respect and harmony with seasonality, the sustainability and safety of man and nature.
