The lowland village of Vrontamas is 38 km from Sparta and is built at an altitude of 140 metres.
It has about 750 permanent residents and was developed with money sent by immigrants in America at the beginning of the last century.
In the village with the traditional houses, visitors can see the old olive mill (with the old machine) and the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The churches of Agios Georgios and Agios Ioannis Nisteftis are also worth visiting. Vrodamas Gorge (6 km), with its impressive river and natural beauty, is an excellent idea for hiking enthusiasts.
