Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary
At Vresthena, in the beautiful square of the village with the fountains, visitors can see the church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Every year, there, on September 8th, there is a festival with live music, which lasts until morning hours. It is a custom that began in the early 1900s.
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was founded in 1901 and inaugurated in 1916. It is an exact copy of the Metropolis of Sparta in miniature.
The marble used for the construction of the temple came from the quarries of Vresthena at that time. According to "Malevos" (newspaper of the 1930s), it is said that the church rests on five tree trunks covered with porcelain.
