The semi-mountainous village of Aggelona belongs to the municipality of Monemvasia.
It is located at the far southeastern end of Parnonas, next to the Molaoi - Monemvasia road. It is 80 km from Sparta and has about 450 permanent residents.
Aggelona was recognised as a settlement in 1835, while from 1940 to 1962, the village was called Agylona. It is said that the village's name came from the church of the Angels, which dates back to the 14th century.
