The village of Agia Marina is 21 km from Gythio and is built on a hill at an altitude of 402 meters. The small village has about 15 permanent residents. Due to its fortified position, it played an important role during the Turkish occupation as well as the outbreak of the Revolution of 1821. The famous Fossil Forest that stretches by the sea is the main attraction of the area.
