The small village of Liantina is located shortly after Sparta, on the way to Gythio. It is built at an altitude of 465 metres and has about 30 permanent residents. The late University professor Dimitris Liantinis (Dimitris Nikolakakos) was born in Liantina on July 23rd, 1942, and died on June 7th, 1998.
