Livieratou Jewelry
In 1985, Ilias Livieratos, a charismatic and multi-talented Kefalonian, self-taught engraver, goldsmith and sculptor, moved his jewellery shop and workshop from the centre of Athens to the castle of Monemvasia. Inside the Byzantine castle town, where every stone is inextricably linked with centuries of history, he created a series of jewellery inspired by architectural details of the castles of Monemvasia and Mystras.
In the same year, as a student at the Historical Archaeology Department of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Kapodistrian University, Ilias Livieratos's daughter, Anastasia, began to help in the family business and was taught the art of silversmithing by her father, also studying at the Sculpture School of EOMMEX. Continuing the family tradition, Anastasia works exclusively with silver, often combined with touches of gold. He enriches the collection with jewellery inspired by the castle of Monemvasia and creates pieces with an ancient Greek theme, drawing influences from the mythology and museums of Greece. In addition, he designs two utterly different series: one with abstract design, sculptural enamel forms and one with unique hand-engraved silver and gold pieces.
The Livieratou Jewelry store is located on the main cobbled streets of Monemvasia, in one of the oldest buildings in the area. It is easily recognisable, as it has a visible underground vault, a visitable workshop, and a small museum of traditional silversmithing techniques. The store is open from Easter until the end of October, offering visitors a unique shopping experience.
The underground vault houses part of the workshop, where old tools and silversmithing machines are exhibited. Guided tours take place in small groups, by appointment, in Greek, English and French and are free of charge. Visitors can see traditional jewellery techniques such as engraving, filigree, cloisonné enamel, cuttlebone casting, and lost wax casting.
Visit Livieratou Jewelry in Monemvasia and discover the art and history of silversmithing. In the store, you will find unique silver jewellery, selected pieces by other Greek jewellery designers and hagiographies. Each piece is a small ode to cultural heritage and artistic inspiration.
At Livieratou Jewelry, they await your visit to share their love of art and tradition in an environment where history comes alive through jewellery.
