Walk for Wishes 2026
Spread the word
Make-A-Wish Greece celebrates World Wish Day on April 29th, a global milestone for Make-A-Wish marking the anniversary of the very first wish ever granted. Forty-six years ago, young Chris Greicius became a police officer for a day, inspiring the creation of the organisation.

Make-A-Wish History
This year, Make-A-Wish Greece celebrates 30 years since its founding and, from April 26 to May 3, is organising a series of walks across 13 cities in Greece as part of Walk for Wishes 2026.
Thanks to the initiative of volunteers and families of wish children, this year’s walks will take place in Athens, Thessaloniki, Edessa, Ioannina, Monemvasia, Sparta, Diakopto, Andros, Heraklion, Nafplio, Veria, Serres, and Chania.
The walks will take place in the evening, lighting up the Greek sky in the signature blue colour of Make-A-Wish with glowing star necklaces, while wish children and their families lead the way. These symbolic walks honour all children who have battled serious illnesses, those who continue to fight, and the memory of those who illuminated the path for others.
The walks are organised in collaboration with local municipalities, which will illuminate landmarks and monuments to mark the finishing points of each route.
Participation is free, though participants are encouraged to purchase the organisation’s glowing star necklace:

In our city, the walk will take place under the auspices of the Municipality and with the support of the Monemvasia Primary School on April 29 at 19:00, with the meeting point at the Gate of Monemvasia Castle.
Participation is free.
