Pounta Beach
Pounta Beach is located at the village of Viglafia - the last village in the Vatican plain. The beach starts right next to the small port where the boat for Elafonisos leaves. Administratively, it belongs to the Municipality of Elafonissos.
Almost the entire coastal area from Pounda to Neapolis (about 7 km) is a vast sandy beach. It is a fantastic beach with sand, pebbles and green waters overlooking Elafonisos and the sunken city of Pavlopetri. The characteristic elements of the beach are the dunes and the cedars. It is ideal for families with children, as the water is shallow. Choose to go swimming to this beach when the wind blows north. Visit the small wetland and walk along the canal that connects the lake with the sea, next to the ancient cemetery. The beach starts in the east from "Ypostego" and reaches Hamokelo, a place with strong currents and waves, ideal for water sports lovers.
