Museum of Nautical Art and Tradition - Neapoli
The Nautical Art and Tradition Museum was founded in 2015 with the aim of promoting the naval tradition of the place, as well as the close and timeless relationship of man with the sea. The Museum is housed in the old Neapolis Elementary School and hosts numerous objects related to Greek sailing. The objects were collected piece by piece by the locals: a porthole, a sundial, a magnetic compass, a World War II mine, and so on. Even a dolphin skeleton is included in the exhibits, which was found on a nearby beach and was ‘assembled’.
The modern exhibition area presents the main attractions through the projection of objects, texts, and photographs, while it also mentions Kavomalias. The legend that has been praised in awe in literature, sung in famous songs and has left an indelible imprint on naval narratives.
