The Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior is located near the entrance of the village Akrogiali (also known as Piontes), which is only 4 km from Lagia.
The Georgopoulos family owns the monastery. The temple’s construction has taken place in two phases, with the western part being newer. A one-room, vaulted building was later added to the north entrance gate, in front of the west gate, which wasn't, eventually, constructed.
The church’s frescoes are of two layers and date back to the 13th and 18th centuries. The older temple is wholly decorated with frescoes except for the lower parts and part of the whitewashed arch. Finally, next to the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior is the old cemetery of the village, Kivouria.
