From one of the dancers becoming the leading dancer

A seminar on advanced Cretan dancing will take place on December 28th, 2025, at 11 am, in the event hall of the Municipal Community of Neapolis at the Old Elementary School. Giorgos Petrakis, founder, dance teacher and leading dancer of the Folklore Dance Group Cretes, teaches.
The seminar focuses on the journey from simple dancer to leading dancer, a transition that requires technique, musicality, knowledge of tradition, and personal style. Giorgos Petrakis, with years of experience on stage and in teaching, will share ways, details and meanings that are difficult to convey other than through live guidance.
The event invites dancers who want to develop their technique and those who wish to explore the deeper philosophy of the Cretan dance ethos. The seminar is a rare opportunity to study, practice, and engage with a living cultural heritage that continues to evolve.
