Ancient Agora (Market) in Gythio
Southeast of the ancient theatre, the ancient Agora extended to the beach.
According to Pausanias, Agora was adorned - decorated by the statues of Apollo and Hercules (who had been dwellers of the city), the statue of Dionysus, the bronze statue of Asclepius, the sanctuary of Ammon, the sanctuary of Demetra, and the statue of Gaiaohos Poseidon.
On the hill of the Acropolis, to the west, among others, there are the ruins of the Roman aqueduct, as well as traces of an Early Christian Basilica of the 3rd-4th century.
