Mavrovouni Beach
It is located 2 kilometres south of Gythio and is one of the largest beaches in Greece. It is a popular, 5 km long beach with thick sand and fine pebbles. The beach with its crystal-clear waters is one of the beaches of Gythio with a blue flag. At noon the winds of the Laconic Gulf are ideal for windsurfing lovers. Visitors can find several taverns and cafes along the beach.
Every year, Caretta-Caretta turtles come to the beach to lay their eggs. For this reason, an Archelon Society Station has been installed to protect the sea turtles and their nests.
