Monastery and Church of Agios Georgios
In the village of Konakia, with the picturesque stone houses, visitors can visit and admire the monastery (12th century) and the church of Agios Georgios.
Agios Georgios church has an impressive bell tower, while inside, there are frescoes of folk art of the 18th century. Behind them, frescoes of the 11th century stand out. The monastery’s cells are two-storey buildings that are in contact with its small precinct. Opposite the entrance of the monastery, there is an impressive well.
In August 1826, there was significant resistance against Ibrahim's attacks in the monastery complex. The monastery of Agios Georgios is part of the Holy Sepulcher (Patriarchate of Jerusalem).
