The village of Ageranos is built at an altitude of 50 meters and is 60 kilometres from Sparta. It has about ten permanent residents. Specifically, it is located in the northwestern part of the Laconic Gulf, on a small cape that separates the bays of Epano and Kato Vathi. The cape is probably the ancient Arainos where the Tomb of Las and its statue were located. The village has been characterised as a traditional settlement due to the tower houses that can be seen here. Ageranos was the seat of Captain Antonis Grigorakis, who, between 1803-1808, was the fifth Bey of Mani.
In the village, the visitor can see the renovated church of Taxiarches, located next to the Tower of Grigorakis (Antonobei Grigorakis Tower), and was built in 1782. The Tsikourio Tower House, which belonged to Tsikourios, nephew of the Mani Bey, Antonobei Grigorakis, also stands out.
