The village of Parasyros is located 2 km west of Skotari, 9 km east of Areopolis and 13 km southwest of Gythio. It is built at an altitude of 160 metres and has 152 permanent residents.
In 1770, Parasyros sent men to contribute to the Mani army in the Battle of Vromopigada against the Turks. The position of the battle was in a plain between Skoutari and Parasyros and ended with a victory of the Greeks. The Nazis also occupied Parasyros during World War II.
The village with the stone mansions is an ideal destination, as it combines the mountain with the sea. Agios' Dimitrios church is worth visiting, while equally picturesque is the village square with the built-in fountain and the century-old plane tree that generously offers its shade. Finally, east of the village (just below the public road), visitors can enjoy their swim at the peaceful, pebble beach with crystal-clear waters.
