The village of Theologos, just 7 km from Sparta, is built at the foot of Mount Parnon, at an altitude of 568 meters.
The village owes its name to the homonymous church of Agios Ioannis the Theologian (Theologos). The church was rebuilt at the end of 1885 by the contractor K.N. Farmasonis and is located at the village square along with the century - old plane tree. The village is found in population censuses conducted by Venetians at the time of the Fall of Constantinople (1453), having about ten families. Today, it has about 300 permanent residents.
The village of Theologos is located on the European Highway E4 Trail, which is an international trail formed by the European Mountain Hiking Association (E.W.V.). The village's borders are crossed by the Oinountas River. The visitor to Theologos will have the chance to visit other churches as well, such as Agios Nektarios, the church of Agioi Pantes, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Agios Nikolaos.
Finally, every year, on September 25th, (the day before the feast of St. John the Theologian), a festival is held at the main square of the village with live music, plenty of wine and food. The festival is organized by the Women's Association of Agios Ioannis Theologos, "Agapi".
