Late Roman Fortification Wall at the Acropolis of Sparta
The Post Roman Fortification Wall surrounds the hill of the Acropolis and is the first monument to be met by the visitor entering the archaeological site from the south entrance.
It is known that Sparta of the Classical period had no walls. The first fortifications date back to the end of the 4th and the 3rd century B.C., when the glorious city-state began to lose power.
