Forty-two kilometres away from Gythio, heading to Dyros, lies the hidden beach of Alypa, with crystal-clear waters and white pebbles.
It is a secret destination for nature lovers, away from the crowds. The shore is just 250 metres long and, in the northern part of the beach, there is a pier for small boats. Beautiful tower houses surround the tiny bay of the beach. It was recognised as a swimming beach in 1992. The American film "Tempest", directed by John Cassavetes, was shot on the shore of Alypa, as well as the TV commercial for Ouzo Plomari.
There, visitors can relax, swim, and have their meal at the picturesque tavern at the edge of the beach.
