According to the legend, near the settlement of Kipoula, there was a big bird during 1951-1953. This bird appeared at Ano Poula only on summer nights. Its creepy voice that reminded everyone who would listen to it of a crying baby caused fear. Some locals who had seen it from afar describe it as a massive bird that was the size of a medium-sized man when it was on the ground. When it left, it would always head to the sea. Those who had seen it spoke of a creature completely new and unknown.
