Going from Areopolis to Tainaro, just before Koita, a small sign on the right of the road leads the visitor to the village of Nomia. Specifically, the village is 4 km from Gerolimenas and 45 km from Gythio and has about 35 permanent residents. The village’s name probably comes from the word "prefecture (nomi)" since there are many pastures in the area.
Nomia stands out for a large number of tower houses, as well as the neighbouring village of Koita. In fact, there is an old saying of Mesa (Inner) Mani that says: "Koita the multi-tower area and Nomia which is similar". The village is organised in neighbourhoods of different families (Patsilinakos, Mesisklis, Michalakakos, Patsouros), each with its tower houses and church.
