The small, picturesque village of Stavri is just 2 km from the main road that leads from Areopolis to Gerolimenas and is a typical example of architectural tradition. It is built at an altitude of 184 meters and has about 24 permanent residents. The foundation of the village is chronologically placed some time during the Middle Ages.
The visitor, here, can wander along the traditional alleys and admire the stone towers. Many of the towers have been restored, such as the Tsitsiris Tower, which was built in 1820 and today operates as a traditional guest house. In the village, there are also the churches of Agios Nikolaos and Agios Vassilios with the playground right next to it. The church of Episkopi - one of the most important Byzantine monuments of Mani dominates the area a short distance from Stavri.
