The village of Skoura is located between Parnonas and Taygetos, next to the river Evrotas. It is about 14 km from Sparta. Skoura has 500 permanent residents and, along with the village of Varvitsa, were the birthplace of Captain Zacharias. Zacharias Barbitsiotis, a legend of Morias, was one of Nikitaras' teachers and the man who inspired Kolokotronis.
