The semi-mountainous village of Germa is one of the least known villages in Laconia. It is built at an altitude of 300 metres and is just a few kilometres from Oitilo. Today, the village has 31 permanent residents. The heroic Macedonian warriors Nikolaos Tsotakos (also known as "Captain-Germas") and Elias Chionakos came from Germa. Their busts are located at the village square. Nikolaos Tsotakos was killed fighting in the Macedonian Struggle of 1907. In fact, Losnitsa in Kastoria, where he was killed, was named Germas in his honour.
In Germa, visitors can see the Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos. It is a two-aisled, cruciform, inscribed temple with a dome and narthex to the west dating back to the 11th century. Ancient marble sections have been incorporated into the walls of the temple. The church is located next to the monument of the fighters, at the village square.
