Petrompeys Mavromichalis' Tower
Petrobeys Mavromichalis' Tower is at a closed cove in Limeni and served as a base for naval attacks - missions. It is believed that the historic Tower was founded in 1762 by Pieros Mavromichalis, Petrobey's father. Historically, the Tower was referred to as a "Restaurant" because Petrobeys made it available to his chieftains as a place of residence and food. The building then passed on to the family's descendants until it was gradually abandoned. Since 2001, it has been a private hotel that restoration and building operations were completed in 2007. Nearby is the Monastery of Panagia Evretria (Breti), built in 1731 with remarkable folk art hagiographies at its crucifixion roofed temple.
At this point, it is worth mentioning that the Mavromichalis family has been followed by a myth all these years. According to legend, Petrobeys Mavromichalis' grandfather, George, married a fairy that he met on a secluded beach. Since then, the whole family have been known as the "fairy - born" thanks to their impressive beauty.
