Chapel of Panagia Agitria
To the northwest of the settlement of Agia Kyriaki of Kounos, visitors can see the chapel of Panagia Agitria (Hodegetria - Leader), which is built on an imposing slope, hidden in the rocks.
It is a 13th-century Byzantine church of unique beauty. It is of cruciform order with a dome, marble reliefs, carved floor motifs and hagiographies, which, unfortunately, have faded. It has the characteristic nickname "The Leader of the Shadow" due to the fact that it is located (it was built) in the shadow of the rocks.
Every year, on the 23rd of August, a feast in honour of Panagia Agitria takes place.
