The statue of Petrobeis Mavromichalis in Areopolis

Petrobeis Mavromichalis, whose real name was Petros Mavromichalis, was born at Areopolis in 1765. He was a great chieftain and politician and led the Greek Revolution on March 17th, 1821. His statue dominates the central Athanaton or 17th March 1821 Square in honour of the "ruler of Mani", as it is typically mentioned.
