The construction of the church was stopped in 1911-1912 due to the Balkan wars to the point where the change of colour of the walls can be seen.
Vougiouklakis (Aliki Vougiouklaki's grandfather), who was a great sculptor of the time, had carved the columns.
Later, with donations, the church was rebuilt.
