The Sparta Historical Revival Association will hold an event entitled “The Laconian Officers in the 1940 Epic” on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at 7:00 PM. The event will focus on the Laconian Officers of the Greco-Italian War of 1940-41. It will be held in the “Nik. Vrettakos and G. Ritsos” Laconian Poets Hall at the Laconian Regional Government Headquarters. The event is being co-organised with the Peloponnese Region – Laconian Regional Government Headquarters.
Programme of speeches:
1. Athanasios Davakis, Deputy Minister of National Defence: Colonel Konstantinos Davakis
2. Demokritos Konstantakos, Lieutenant General (retd.), Honorary Commander of the 1st Army: The preparation of the Greek Army for war.
3. Christos Kontakos, former President of the Greek Section of the International Police Association (IPA): Fallen Reserve Officers of the Epidaurus-Limira District
4. Georgios Dimakoyiannis, “Adouloti Mani” Publications: The Mani Officers in the Greco-Italian War
The event will be coordinated by Mrs Eleni Tzikakou, author.
The event will feature authentic exhibits of Laconian Officers of the Greco-Italian War 1940-41 from the War Museum of Athens. Unpublished photographs, videos, letters of Laconian soldiers and historical documents from all over Laconia will be shown. At the same time, plenty of printed material will be distributed free of charge to the public.
The event will last approximately 90 minutes. Your presence will be a great honour for us.
