On World Day for Intangible Cultural Heritage (17/10), the Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation is organising a storytelling performance at the Olives and Greek Olive Oil Museum in Sparta on Sunday, October 19th, 2025 (at 11:00).
Storytelling is an important aspect of intangible cultural heritage, as through fairy tales and folk tales, the values, emotions and collective experiences of many generations are transmitted to the younger generations. All this valuable and rich material has survived literally “by word of mouth,” so that today, we can enjoy it mainly through written records.
In the performance, Sasa Voulgari's enchanting narration brings Greek folk tales, traditions and legends connected to the themes of the Foundation's Network Museums to life.
Young and old will discover that, at least in fairy tales, olive trees shed tears, stones give patience, tiles cry, trees embrace, water has words, and rings are magical… And a red thread can wrap all the beauty of the world!
