On Sunday, November 5th (at 11:00 & 12:30), the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with the Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival, will screen award-winning Greek documentaries of recent film production at the Museum of the Olive and the Greek Olive Oil, in Sparta.
Schedule:
11:00 The last voyage
Directed by Aris Chatzistefanou / Greece, 2022, Duration: 57’
A journey to modern Japan through the eyes of the great Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis, who visited Japan before and after World War II. Sixty-five years after the last fatal trip to the country hit by the pandemic, his memories become a “compass” for a new journey.
12:30 Into the land of Ice and Fire
Directed by Dimitra Zirou / Greece, 2022 / Duration: 95’
The film is inspired by the modern life of the indigenous people who inhabit the European Arctic region, the Sami, popularly known as the Lapps. We observe their lives through the cycle of a year, through the changing Arctic seasons as they pass from winter’s long darkness to the light of summer that never sets.
