1st Sparta Half Marathon

The Municipality of Sparta, in collaboration with the Spartan Runners, who are responsible for the route and race, with the support of the Peloponnese Region and EAS SEGAS of the Peloponnese Region, is organising the 1st Sparta Half Marathon on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.

The event includes:

21.1 km half marathon on Sunday, 10 am

5 km race, on Sunday, 10:15

DATE: SUNDAY OCTOBER 13TH 2024

START: Time 10:00

STARTING POINT: STATUE OF LEONIDAS (CON. PALEIOLOGOU & 300)

DISTANCE: Half marathon 21.1 km

ROUTE: The route is covered only by asphalt.

5 km on asphalt

Age Limit for Participation

To participate in the Road Half Marathon, one must be 18 years of age (born in 2006 and older).

To participate in the 5km Road Race, one must be 12 years of age (born in 2012 and older).

STATEMENTS OF PARTICIPATION

In addition to the participation form, limited registrations for athletes of the half marathon and 5 km will be made at the secretariat, which will be located next to the Leonidas Statue during the hours 08:00-09:30

The maximum number of entries is as follows:

For the half marathon, 400 runners

For the 5km race: 400 runners.

MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

The participants in the event, runners, know and fully understand the risks involved in their participation in the event in terms of the possible effects on their health. Each runner participates in the event of their own free will and bears full responsibility for their physical condition and ability to participate. Medical certificates will not be requested for any athlete since all participants compete at their own risk.

The Municipality of Sparta and the Spartan runners bear no responsibility in case of injury or any other impact that may be suffered by participating in the event. Runners participate at their own risk, having undergone the necessary medical examinations and having had the required cardiological check-ups before the races. Minor athletes compete under the responsibility of their parents.

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to each competition's first three and the first three athletes. In the half marathon only, there will be awards in the following age categories for men & women:

1st category 18-30 years old

2nd category 31-40 years old

3rd category 41-50 years old

4th category 51-60 years old

5th category 60+

A commemorative medal will be awarded to those who finish in both races.

FINANCES

There will be a participation fee for the participants, which is as follows:

For the half marathon: 10 euros

For the 5km race: 5 euros

These prices do not include the technical t-shirt (ANTHRAX), the value of which is set at 15 euros. The desire to acquire it is declared during each participant's registration, at which time the relevant price is paid.

The participation fee will only be paid electronically, by credit or debit card, and the registration will be considered valid upon payment. The entry fee will be paid in cash only for the limited entries that will be accepted on the day of the race.

KILOMETRE INDICATIONS

There will be mileage indicators along the route.

TIMING

The half marathon and the 5km race will be timed at the start and finish. In the half marathon, there will be an additional intermediate carpet at the 9th km of the route.

INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE LAUNCH

The start and finish of both races take place in front of the Leonidas Statue, just behind which is the Sparta Municipal Stadium. There, participants have access to toilets and changing rooms.

There is a parking lot right next to the Sparta Municipal Stadium for those who bring their own cars.

The accredited AIMS class A meter, Giorgos Doussis, has certified the half-marathon route.
