Emeritus Professor of the Hellenic Open University, Lila Leontidou, will speak on the topic “Women’s Creativity in the Construction of Refugee Settlements.”
On the occasion of 14th September, the national day of remembrance for the Genocide of the Greeks of Asia Minor and Eastern Thrace, the event honours the victims and sheds light on the journey of the refugees who, despite the traumatic circumstances of their resettlement, made a significant contribution to the renewal of Greek society, the economy and culture.
In her talk, Lila Leontidou will place particular emphasis on the contribution of women to the formation of new neighbourhoods, networks of solidarity and forms of social life following the uprooting and displacement of the refugee population.
