The guided tour will be led by Dr Maria Tsouli, archaeologist and Head of the Department of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities and Museums of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Laconia.
The event is being held to mark the completion of the first phase of restoration and conservation works on the monument and it is also aiming to inform the public about the theatre’s historical and archaeological significance, the scientific and technical work being carried out to protect and promote the monument, as well as the prospects of reconnecting modern Sparta with one of the most important monuments of the ancient city.
