Sparta Cultural Centre-Wreaths made of paper and light
Spread the word
The joint initiative of the Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation, the Museum of Olives and Greek Olive Oil, and the Sparta Cultural Association is being held as part of the European Heritage Days 2026 and in the spirit of the SPARTATHLON ultramarathon. Entitled “Wreaths of Paper and Light,” the initiative combines the symbolic power of sport with a creative approach to cultural heritage.
The workshops will involve creating impressions of wild olive wreaths on paper using the cyanotype technique. The resulting artworks will be presented to the winners of the SPARTATHLON, as well as to members of the public, highlighting the connection between the olive tree, light, memory and participatory creativity within the Greek tradition.
