Sparta Scene (Skini)-Do They Exist?
Spread the word
The gaze is turned from us to us to remind us of the role we have or would like to have as social subjects.
Stories of oppression are "played out" in the forum theatre. They are stories that have not yet found the strength to change their ending, stories with a set course in which relations of oppression are involved and nested. Who is the oppressor? Who will try to change the ending? Who will give the end? Who will try to make a new beginning?
The Sparta Forum BOL theatre group presents the show "Do They Exist?" at the Skini Cultural Association. It is an interactive theatre performance of the oppressed that talks about accessibility. We invite you to come and speak in theatrical terms about access to our city.
With the performance, this group is introduced to the city and begins its meetings for this season by inviting new members. This particular group has an activist nature, so participation and all its practices are free. Come and chat through the theatre.
Our city deserves to have its own voice.
Forum Theatre is a theatrical method that was born in the 60s in Brazil, with Augusto Boal as its initiator. It aims to actively participate citizens in society, regardless of origin, education, and social status. Boal believes that everyone can do theatre because it is a way of expression inherent in man. From Brazil, it quickly spread throughout Latin America, and in the late 70s, it also reached Europe, where today it serves as a tool for social intervention.
On the Sparta Stage (Skini Spartis), the Bol Forum theatre group addresses the issue of accessibility in public space and free movement in Sparta.
