Collection of I. Koumantaros Educational Games for Young Visitors
This programme is addressed, and adapted accordingly, to kindergarten children and all grades of primary school.
With the help of Lisa the little dog, who lives in a picture frame, children become young explorers. They search for details in the paintings, learn to observe carefully, and unlock their secrets. They sharpen their imagination, create stories, identify themes and artistic techniques, and draw inspiration for their own artwork.
Duration:
45 to 60 minutes for kindergarten and early primary grades
60 to 90 minutes for upper primary grades
Permanent Exhibition-"In the Years of King Otto" Programme
This program is mainly addressed to students of 5th and 6th grade of primary school and to middle school students. Participants take a short journey to the early years after the Greek War of Independence and the creation of the modern Greek state.
Why were painters necessary? What did they paint in the first years of modern Greece? Why is the portrait of Kolokotronis so unusual? Where did artists draw inspiration from? Can we collectively bring a painting to life?
These are some of the questions explored.
Duration: 60 to 90 minutes
Permanent Exhibition-"Spring at the Gallery" Programme
This programme is adapted for students of all educational levels.
What is spring for each of us? A colour? A scent? A song? A blooming flower? Participants search for signs of spring in the works of the permanent collection and choose their favourite. What would they change if they were the painter?
They create stories and paint their own spring.
Duration: 60 to 90 minutes
Permanent Exhibition-"Learning History through Art" Programme
An educational guided tour mainly addressed to middle and high school students. Participants explore the five rooms of the permanent exhibition and become acquainted with the development of modern Greek art, including Neoclassicism, the Munich School, Modernism, the Generation of the 1930s, and Abstraction.
They connect events of Greek and European history with artistic movements, as well as with important discoveries that influenced how we perceive the world.
Duration: 60 to 90 minutes
Permanent Exhibition-"A Story about Blue" Programme
This programme is adapted for kindergarten and all primary school grades.
Participants explore the permanent exhibition and discover how artists used the blue colour. They identify the painting with the most blue, learn why this colour has been so important in human history, and how painters used it. How many shades of blue exist? Can someone invent a new colour?
Duration:
45 to 60 minutes for kindergarten and early primary grades
60 to 90 minutes for upper primary grades
Permanent Exhibition-"100 Years of Surrealism" Programme
This programme is adapted for kindergarten and all primary school grades.
Focusing on the work “Theatre” by Nikos Eggonopoulos, participants are introduced to the magical world of Surrealism. They bring their dreams to life, travel to imaginary worlds, move beyond the limits of logic, and create short poems and paradoxical drawings.
