Sainopoulion Amphitheatre
Sainopouleio Amphitheatre is an open-air venue for cultural events located near Sparta. Specifically, it is located near the settlement of Magoula, at a privileged position overlooking Taygetos and the Castle City of Mystras.
The Amphitheatre was completed in 1990 at the expense of the Sainopouleio Foundation. The open space has an orchestra with a diameter of 16 metres and can accommodate up to 1500 spectators. There is also an outdoor parking lot in an area of 15 acres.
Every year, many cultural events are organised in the amphitheatre, such as theatrical performances and concerts, known as Cultural Summer. It has been described as the most beautiful newly built theatre in Greece. In fact, late Manos Hadjidakis had said that this is the most beautiful theatre after Epidaurus.
